2005 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Edition

Just got back from Haynes Jeep in Richmond (one of the largest dealers in the country - 12 unlimiteds on the lot now) I was looking for any news on the 2005 models. My salesman said they had a meeting this AM about upcoming 2005 Jeep models and they were told a Rubicon LWB was a definite, but would be a later build. After further questions from me, he brought me over to the sales manager (over 20 yrs at that position) who handed me the memo from DC that they had discussed at the AM sales meeting. The memo had a paragraph about each Jeep model and a summary of 2005 changes/additions. The Wrangler paragraph mentioned the 6 speed manual transmission available on each model, along with the two new colors (Impact Orange and Beryl Green). At the bottom was a line -- quote "(Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Edition scheduled for late 4Q build)". The sales manager translated this as orders would open in September and build dates would start in October and continue thru the end of the year. Orders open 6/16 for all short wheel base models and the LWB Sport model.

There was no mention of a Scrambler or other SUT in the DC memo. I bet you're referring to what's showed up on another popular jeep news site. Sounds like that is an old article (from 2003!) posted by some autonews writer asleep at the wheel. Who knows, DC has hinted at a "surprise" for the fall, but sounds like it may be the new full sized Commander instead of an SUT.

Check out the test mule shot of the Commander here:
