2005 TJ Short Throw Shifter
Does anyone know of a short throw shifter for a 2005 TJ with a 6 speed tranny? I do not think B&M makes a shifter for anything after 2004. I could not find any other company that produces shifters for jeep wranglers.

Not yet for some reason. I keep trying to talk Pro5.0 into making one. I have one in the SS. Amazing Shifter, all hand made.

Yes, I like to bring it to the drag strip. I put slicks on all four wheels and then do the quarter mile in 4hi.
I am also looking for a wheelie bar and parachute if you know of any place that would carry them for a Wrangler.

Just Kidding. I like the more positive feel of a short throw and my stock shifter hits my XM radio when I am in 5th gear.

Mine did to. Be listening to Nine Inch Nails - hit 5th - Whamo! Dolly Parton!! Almost drove off the road (on purpose).

I used to think that a short throw shifter was a useless add on. Then I came across a Hurst short throw shifter for free that fit my car. My car at the time was no performance vehicle (dead stock '64 Bug). The Hurst shifter didn't seem to match well with the stock interior, but I thought "what the hell" and put it in.
What a difference. It was better than the stock shifter in every way. The position of the knob, the short throws, increased smoothness, and a quality "feel". It would have been well worth the money had I paid the $180 retail price for it, all the better that I got it for free.

The Hurst SSK was the first "performance mod" i've done to my TJ and i love it. Make sure you put some thread lock on the bolts that hold the handle to the base though, mine came loose on the highway and it was pretty scary!

i had a mopar short throw im my SRT-4 but I raced that.... I guess I should drive a manual tj sometime and see how the shift is....all my old yj's were stick and I thought the shift feel was fine for an offroad rig.

I don't think a short throw shifter would be good with the 6sp tranny. Have you read any of the posts about grind noises from 1st > 2nd or 2nd > 3rd. If you shifter knob is in the wrong position maybe heating the shaft and bending it to a better position might be an option. I know until my engine warms up on cold days, shifting fast sounds bad. Slowly shifting during the lower gears is better.
Anybody with pictures of short throw shifters in trucks/jeeps.

I get a little grind when shifting to 2nd when it is still a little cold. I am not looking to shift any faster but just like the feel of a real notchy short throw. It is hard to explain until you feel it for yourself.

I put one in a LONG time ago. I hate it, and have long since quit spending money on things that don't help the performance, or add safety to my rig.
