[2005 TJ] Backfire leads to engine noise and air escaping from motor

Hey guys got a rather important issue that needs some working out.

Our 2005 TJ (~38K MI) backfired something fierce the other day and now there is a noise coming from the passenger side of the motor that sounds like air escaping on compression (Almost like an air compressor filling). you can also feel air coming out of the motor near from what I believe is the ignition rail.

The motor starts and will run but not without the sound and air escaping.

We're thinking its a blown plug but haven't broken it down yet to confirm since we have an extended warranty on it from the stealership.

any ideas?
