2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Sahara, looking to buy!
Hello,
The HONDA stealership down the road has a 2005 LJ Sahara Rubi, 77,000 miles 6cyl,auto/241 soft top 285/85/16 gooodyear mtr's on moab's 2" lift (coils) edge CAI/Throttle body Hella's jeep looks great, it's number 631 out of 1000 made. WE WANT TO TRADE IN: 1999 SE 4cyl/ax5/231 2" BB / hydros WET OKOLE covers w/ heated seats fog lights 69,000 miles dynomax exhaust the dealership wants $15,900 for the LJ and will give me $6500 for our TJ, you think its worth it, that'd be $9,900 + Tax out of pocket. I'm thinking of asking for $7,000 and giving them the bikini/jammer/tonno combo i have for it. basically saying i want to pay $9,000 out of pocket. INPUT NEEDED. I;m a CJ kid, been a while since my TJ

If you're paying straight up and offer them $9,000 + your trade for it, they will most likely accept. If the LJ Rubicon is what you want I say do it, but the #whatever of whatever Sahara thing is pretty much useless once you start modding it. Not that it matters, that still seems like a decent deal for any LJ Rubicon.

In So Cal any rubi unlimited is 20K +. Just yesterday at the union 76 gas station while filling up, out of no where a guy starts asking questions about mine. Telling me it's worth 24K+. Then offered 22. Almost sold it. For 24K it would probably have a new owner.
If it's what you want, jump on it. Just don't expect the "sahara" thing to add any value. It's a couple of stickers, seat covers and painted MOAB's for the most part. $6500 trade in on a 99 4 cyl seems high from a wholesale standpoint. I'd jump on it. |

Rubi LJ? DO EET. You won't be disappointed! Although you can pull the silly Edge kit off for sure...

An LJ Rubi Sahara? Never heard of that before.
Either way, price seems decent. For reference, I paid $19K for an 06 LJ Rubi (2 months ago) with 32K miles. Grab it and get rid of that aftermarket intake. Offering parts from your TJ wont increase what the dealership will give you. They dont care about that stuff. When you negotiate, make sure to settle on the price of the vehicle youre buying before negotiating the value of your trade in. Otherwise youll just play the nutshell game with the 2 values. edit: just looked up Rubi Sahara. Very cool find dude.

IMO dont give them a damn thing extra cause it isnt worth a penny more to them. chances are you will get more selling it to someone on a forum. they are just going to send yours to auction anyways. if you changed the radio, put the stock back in and get 50 bucks for it local or ebay, anything else that is a simple removal do it. stock is always more appealing to dealers than extras. been in the dealer business for 12 years now.

I saw that LJ too, I'm in MA too. looks like a pretty good deal. I'm in the market for a rubi too but the unlimited just isn't my thing or else I'd be all over it.

Other than the miles seems like a good deal. And if you don't want to bother selling on your own, even better. Check for prior accidents/body or frame damage then buy.
