Your failure would have happened with any of the units. At least the Dorman and Crown units followed the SG Mod's lead and used oilite bushings, which is an improvement to the stock bushing. You most likely have an alignment problem that has been documented here but is very rare on most Jeeps.

The SG Mod addresses the upper bearing primarily. This is the huge problem as all other units still rely on grease or mist. The lower bushing, with the mods to open up the oiling holes, are about the same for all three.

Yes, you are correct. My point was that just because you have an SG Mod unit, you could still have issues. My SGMod was done by someone on this forum who is very knowledgeable and has done many mods. I think he was even the first one to notice the alignment issue. But even he missed the issue when he built this one for me. So no matter what you do, you still need to be aware of potential issues.

HELP!
My 2 year old camshaft synchronizer seized up and spun (clamp was tight ). I bought a new dorman and it wobbled so exchanged the dorman and it to wobbles (the serial numbers are consecutive). Is this common or is something else messed up?
Vid of the wobble:

What is wobbling? With the unit out of the Jeep, is the shaft loose in the bushings?

With the unit out nothing seems to be loose or wobbly...

Its lifting the housing up as it turns around, as if its side loading the shaft as it spins or the shaft has a bend.

Missed the link to the video before. I have never seen that.

Did you have the clamp installed and tight?

Yep, dropped both in multiple times and tightened. Just got done testing the old gear on the new unit and still wobbling (was thinking that the dorman gear was off).
Now in dumbfounded, going to clean up the old shaft and put the old one in to see if it wobbles..

How does the cam gear look?

I'm at a loss on how it can move around that much.

Backlash or up/down thrust movement with the sync wheel? It looks like something within the unit is not aligned properly. If it was from the cam gear, I'd imagine with that much movement, it would be easily visible (wear, broken tooth, etc).

It's amazing that this thing has still not gone past a tech service bulletin with Chrysler. Corporate scumbags...

I hate to even make this suggestion but maybe the oil pump? If all 3 are doing it then it might be a bent or loose shaft in the pump. If not then it could very well be the cam/cam gear.

Did not think about the oil pump. It's only 2 year old mellings high flow. I'll check that before I mess with the cam.
