2004 Wrangler - starts hard?

My first jeep, about 109,000 miles. Replaced battery (Diehard) and all was going well for about 3 months. Has begun starting hard, battery tests out at 12.5 amps at rest and 13.9 amps while running. Have checked all lights, radio etc. to be sure nothing is draining the battery.
Not sure where to start....alternator, starter or maybe just not driving it enough to keep battery charged?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Define "hard start"
Does it crank forever?
Does it turn over sloooowly?
Does it fire and die several times before catching?
Does it shudder when started?
etc
Describe your symptoms.

Think "slooooowly" best descirbes it. Also, first crank in the am it is as if the battery is dying then it catches and starts. Over the course of a few starts it gets worse.
Does that help? I was leaning towards a starter problem?

I'd wirebrush both battery connectors & the posts, after completely removing them, and then reinstall them tightly enough that you can't move either connector with your hands even with some force. Looking at them & pronouncing them ok based on looking ok isn't good enough when troubleshooting this type of problem. Yes I realize they were disconnected & reconnected when your battery was replaced.

One thing about our battery connectors... they are made from lead & as such, can wear enough where they fit around the battery posts so they cannot be tightened tightly enough to prevent this type of problem. There is a free & easy fix for that if your connectors cannot be tightened tightly enough.

If that doesn't help, it's time to remove the connectors at the starter motor & see what they look like.
