2004 Wrangler

I'm going to be buying a Wrangler within a month but I don't know if I should buy a 2003 or a 2004. Does anyone know what changes are in store for 2004 if any? I heard a rumor about a V6 and maybe a modified grille. Can anyone confirm anything?

Get an '03. You'll get a better price. And anytime theres a change to a proven model, its a good idea to wait a year so they can work all the bugs out. Just my thought.

You have alot of views and no replies so I'll put some words in

First, welcome.

Second, I haven't heard anything specific on the '04, but the '03 is available with a V6, I have it and love it.

I don' t know how much money is a concern to you, but now would be a really good time to get a good deal on an '03 to help the dealer get it off the lot...if you can find what you are looking for. I know around here the pickins are pretty slim.

I talked to the stealer and Jeep's 800 # today, and neither could tell me what changes are in store. I've read on some sites that it'll be a bunch of body changes, but that doesn't really seem likely since they're doing a total redesign for 2006. My guess would be a couple of cosmetic changes and the rest stays the same. All I can say is I'm going to have a serious case of the *** if there is no Rubicon for 2004 since all the 03s are sold out. That's why I still have the Dodge.

There is definitly going to be a rubicon for 04, they even have a new color, electric lime green that looks like a mountain dew can, pretty cool if you ask me

This is a concept of a bike hauling wrangler but the color is the one they are doing for the Rubicon

here's my .2,
look for a 2003 that has been on the dealer lot for around 90 days. dealers have 90 days to move a vehicle before they start paying taxes and such on em. chances are good they will cut a deal to move it before they would one that just arrived. might be tough on the color, options package but it can save you some $$. also realize in the tj there is a large mark up. the sahara and rubicons have minimal mark ups so there is not a lot of room for the dealer to save you money and them still make some. stick with the tj and try to get one that has been on the lot for a while. they can cut the price, get it off the lot, make money on it and save the taxes as well. knowldge is power. good luck

Thanks

Thank you all for your replies. I get a DamlierChysler family discount so there is little to no difference between ordering a new one and buying one off the lot. I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to change anything if I happened to find one that I wanted on the lot instead of waiting for one I ordered. Thanks again for your replies

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing the 3.7L V6 offered as an option on the TJ, in addition to the 2.5L and 4.0L. I would certainly prefer the 4.0 for its low-end grunt off road, but the higher-revving, more fuel efficient 3.7 would probably be a better choice for those whose Jeeps spend most of their time on the highway with only occasional off-road use.
