Today we spent the day with Jon Currie and friends. They wanted to do some interesting runs. Spent a couple of hours on SOS and 20 minutes on Chocolate Thunder.

The day was perfect! The weather was fantastic around 75-80 and a little wind. No body was there!

I broke a rear u-joint and pinion yoke chipped.

Did some real damage! I don't have pictures of it but I can throw away my besttop tub doors! I was so stuck and could only saw my way out.

Just a little. The door jamb has a good dent and the tube door is wasted. All easily repaired!

Or in the case of the doors, eventually replaced with more Savvy versions?

And for the amount of rock "love" the corners and sliders apparently saw looking at that pic, I'd say everything did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Looks like fun Gerald. I wish I could have been there with you.
Maybe next time

Did you have a spare pinion yoke?

What you didn't see is G had to saw back and forth for each of those scratches with that spot being the only thing keeping him from going over on his side.

It held up well enough that I won't be designing any thicker or stronger armor anytime soon.

That trail is brutal. Take a look at the pics again. We're in a full bodied Jeep following two buggies. John's is 112" of wheelbase and the other is around 108 and outside of one mandatory winch point for Gerald and the second buggy, he kept up just fine and did some spots easier.

You know it's going to be rough when you have to toss a few rocks for a buggy.

I always carry a spare rear yoke and drive shaft. I'm a little hard on them!

I was able to just replace the end of the DS and the pinion yoke and off we went.

I don't think you would have had a lot of fun on SOS. It is an a$$ kicker!

I see you're actually using that 4 post lift to actually lift something instead of storage for a bunch of aluminum. What are the rockers you have on the Jeep in those pictures?

Time to update this thread.

Well I'm entertaining the idea of selling the 03 to friend of mine. In the mean time it is going under the knife for a back half and stretch. Hopefully next month they can get it done. I want it stretched to about 105-106" so it will climb a little better. I will then be able to replace the 2" coilovers with the 2.5" that I originally bought for it but couldn't get them to fit. I want to take it out for one last Thanksgiving trip.
