2001 Jeep TJ alternator upgrade help.

I have a 2001 Jeep TJ with a 4.0 engine. I am looking for an alternator upgrade for it. The alternator sits up high on the passenger side and has the top bracket offdet almost to the muddle of the alternator. The alternator from a 99 Grand Cherokee will not bolt on as the bracket positions are not right. Anyone made this change? If so what alternator did you use?

If you look at the alternators in the BC article they are totally different

The alternators in the article are like the 99 Grand Cherokee and are totally different from my 2001 TJ. The one I have the top anchor point is offset about 2 inches towards the middle. Also the reply that you used a 2000 Grand Cherokee what year TJ did you put it in?

Jeep moved the alternator up higher in 2000 and used P/N 56041685AA

I would do some more research on the P/N:56041693AC or P/N:56029914AA, I hear there is an extra bracket on the 160A model which your don't use but it still bolts up.

136 amp alternator*:

Jeep Alternator

The original factory alternator number is 56041864AA. Bottom Brackets are 2 5/8 inches between them. Sitting on it's side on the floor, the top bracket touches the floor and the bottom brackets touch the floor at the same time. My top bracket is broken so I wanted to upgrade when buying another one.
The one from the 99 Grand Cherokee i have are straight across from each other, and about 1/2 inch closer together.
I just wanted an upgrade ,higher amp to install a winch.
Thanks

Thank you for that link. I knew that certain models were very able to bolt in and that sums it up nicely.
