Is the wiring harness compatible in your TJ with that PCM?

Again, fill in your profile...

Funny thing is the PCM plug stayed the same through out the years. What changed was where the engine harness connects to the firewall harness.

So you are using the 4 cyl harness and adding 2 new injector lines? Did you run them back to the PCM or just tap into different injector?

Sent from my phone where grammar isn't easy.

Hey there guys.. sorry for the hold up..

2 weekends and the swap is done!

The only issues I have encountered is the power steering cables and the rad hoses. not a big deal.. im going to go get some fitted.

And then there is the instrument cluster.
engine and all the other parts are from a 99 cherokee.

didnt swap the cluster.. and the pcm is sending the info when i do the test.

so turn the ignition on , lights turn on like seat belt.. park break.. and so on.. all normal. except the batt gage and fuel gage does not go to where its supposed to be (good battery)

No I turn over the key.. all dials goes all the way . .and then comes back to 0 and the gauges don't work where they are supposed to be.. all lights up and all but oil pressure , gas, speed, and batt gauges does not move.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking the ground wires but it would not work at all.. doing the tests for the gauges and all works in sequence..

weird lol

Hey but the engine starts and runs like a dream.. might be straight pipe for a little bit lol

PCM isn't sending proper signal to dash.

Would you know if flashing the pcm to make it work for the 2001 cluster would work?

It might. There are a few places online that can do it for you. I would call them and ask.

Also swapping 2.5L for a 4.oL

i also am replacing my 97 2.5l to a 4.0l, i was wondering why i would need aftermarket mounts? I know i need a Ax-15( which i cant find! ) but can i still use the stock transfer case and shafts that came with my 2.5l?
Thanks you for the detailed info!

No the 2.5's transfer case has a 21 spline input and the 4.0's has 23... not sure about the driveshafts.

Because the 4 and 6 cylinder frame mounts are different. You can use your transfer case, but you need to change the input shaft to do so.
