1998 jeep wrangler - block heater??

Is this the best way to keep the engine and everything have less wear issues.
I have never used one of the block heaters and want to know how easy it is to install and do they stay in permanently.Do they have a posibility of falling out??
I live in a very cold weather area and am trying to keep the engine warmer for less battery and starting issues

Check to see if you already have one, my factory block heater cord is up by the master cylinder.

Won't help your battery, you can get battery "blankets" that will help.
Make sure you use a good synthetic oil, if it is that cold switch to a 5W30 for the winter.

Block heaters have very good reputation of reliability. As far as ease of install,
they are probally easier than a remote start on some vehicles. I purchased
a factory unit from Jeepsareus for 30 or 35 bucks, and it works excellent!
If you decide on one, use it with a timer. and set it 1 hour prior to use.
This will allow time for it to warm up very nicely!
By the way, power consumption is rated at 600 watts.

Block heaters rule when it's really really cold. As stated above - run em on a timer.

I also run 2 cans of Bardahl B1 in any of my vehicles that sit outside in the winter. I do that just B4 winter hits while doing an oil change. Those rigs will turn over at -25F like it's 15 above as long as the batterys are not getting crappy- without a block heater pluged in.

Plug and unplug a couple times....you'll see a spark at the plug...if so, it's drawing current, so is working.
Also, you can usually hear them hiss/sizzle...like an electric kettle.

I have never owned a vehicle without one and never had one fail. Cant count how many vehicles.
It's been -20 here for 2 weeks and lots of snow. It does aid in keeping your battery warm if you run it all night. When I go out in the mornings, my Jeep can be under a foot of fresh snow and there's none on the hood. Also, by the time I sweep the snow off the rest of it, the cab is warm.

Usually on the drivers side....look for the cord to be coiled up and tied.
Might be in behind the headlight, tied to the brake cylinder, etc.

if you can't find the cord, look on the side of the block, you'll see the heater (round, and about 2" in diameter), it'll have a 3-wire cord leading off it. Follow the cord.
