1997 Jeep Cherokee 6 cylinder engine swap into a 97 Jeep Wrangler?
I bought my Jeep Wrangler new back in 1997 with a 2.5 Liter engine. I would like more power the four banger just is not working for me anymore. A couple years ago I bought a 1997 Jeep Cherokee to be my highway Jeep and the body is starting to go but the engine and transmission are the same. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could swap the 4.0 out of my Cherokee into my Wrangler. I know I am going to have to put in new drive shafts, but I did not know if the motor and transmission mounts are similar or the same?

Jeep actually has a 4cyl frame and a 6cyl frame from the factory. You have to cut the 4 cyl mounts off and weld new mounts on for the 6cyl. Also, the steering bracket will need to be swapped from another 6 cyl TJ, not sure if the Cherokee one will work
