15x7 vs 15x8 rims on TJ?
I have a guy locally willing to sell me 4 like new Cragar Soft 8's for a great deal.
Thing is, they are 15x7's... So I wanted to come here to ask, first of all, what would the difference be b/t the 15x7 vs 15x8's with the same backspacing? (4" BS) Do they look differently while on a TJ? And since I am just going to buy 31/10.5/15 tires, with no lift (stock suspension) for awhile, the 15x7's should be perfectly fine correct?

If all you ever intend to do is use 31*10.50 tires, then the 7" rims are fine (that's what I have).
But what you're tring to achive? If you have stock steel wheels and just want a black look, go ahead and switch. If you currently have 7" alloy wheels, I wouldn't switch to steel. |

No, I have steel currently.. I just love the look of Soft 8's and was planning on paying the ~$200 for 5 of them from Jegs in 15x8... But for 4 of these for ~$80 I felt like I might aswell get these and have a good amount to go towards my new tires... I will get a full spare a little later...
CVD- Do you have any pics of your TJ currently? I'd like to see what it looks like, even though you have 2" of lift... lmk

probably not a huge difference but if youd rather have 15x8's Crager Soft 8's are that expensive to begin with. you can easily get four 15x8's for under $200

Don't skimp on wheels and get the size you really want.

by the time you buy these, mount them, you could have already bought the wheels you really want. i would just hold off if you really want the 15x8

You can also opt for a 33x10.50. Some of the "skinnier" tires like Swampers for example, look kinda good. Especially with Soft-8's. My .02 though.

Well, I don't understand...
I never, ever, plan on going more than 31's with this TJ because after this summer it's more than likely going to a new home... and it's a 4-banger, so I don't feel like dealing with all the re-gearing etc of going bigger. Plus, wouldn't a 15x7 hold a 10.5 tire better than a 15x8 would? I ask because I've heard alot of people say a 15x8 holds a 12.5 tire better than a 15x10 would..

For a 31x10.50, a 15x7 is the better wheel size. It's when you get to 32x11.50 and bigger that a 15x8 becomes more appropriate.

TY. I'm going with them soley because I am not going bigger than 31's, and since they will look nice it will up the resale. Thanks for the replies and helpful info everyone. Once I get some rubber around them and mounted, pics will be up somewhere. :-D
