I bought a Daystar 1" body lift a while ago for my 03 rubicon .I'm getting ready to install it but I just realized that it has " Comfort ride " polyurethane bushing . I really dont want any vibrations from them , and I want to only do it once. Anybody ever use them? Or should I go and get a spacer body lift and keep the rubber?
I've been running that 1" body lift for over 10 years without issue.
Why not do the MML and transmission mount at the same time with the daystar polyurethane mounts?...
I won't run polyurethane bushings anywhere, I'd find a kit where the spacers sit on top of the OE rubber bushings. Rubber isolates more noise out and it has a longer life than companies like Daystar want us to believe. I helped a friend do a frame-up restoration of his '73 CJ-5 a dozen years ago and his original rubber body mounts were still in such great condition he didn't replace them. Even though even the tub was totally replaced.
One thing that I've found is that if you change to polyurethane bushings at the MM, you also need to change the transmission mount to polyurethane to maintain the triangulated harmonic balance to keep the vibrations down... IMO
I spent half the day reading about this and it keep going both ways. LOL!
I'm old school and the word polyurethane is for mounts is not a good thing.
I got my novak cable but not mml yet. I'm torn? I read something earlier about poly mount being to stiff and putting stress on the radiator?
There are reasons why Jeep and even high-end car manufacturers like Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW use rubber and not polyurethane bushings. And it's not to save fifty cents per mount.
The body lift wont be a problem.
I have one on my rubicon lj, it feels no different.
u dont feel or hear the body lift at all.
the poly mml and trans mount will give more vibration though.
Its only noticed when stopped at a stop light in gear.
When in park, neutral, or just driving, its not felt or heard.
its not that bad really, but i could see it would annoy some people.
If vibration annoys you, use rubber motor, and trans mounts.
Do what ever with the body lift, u wont notice a difference.
Thanks everyone for the help! Being old school I'm going to stick with the stock rubber bushings and spacers . I ordered a jks kit today and mml too!
I guess it just comes down to my preference? Thanks again.
That will do fine. Enjoy.
The poly body lifts go for about 150 ish new.
Should b able to get a hundred on cl for it.
I got mine for $75 on cl, but its a hideous yellow color.
