I was Looking at getting the 4" Rough Country Spring and LCA lift kit. Will it be going to far if I also add a 1" or even a 2" Spring Spacer to that. I'd rather not do any body lift to clear 35's.

A body lift is really easy to do on a TJ and 5-6" of lift on short arms is way too much. Plus driveline vibrations with 4" and up lifts usually require a SYE and CV conversion to elimiate them. Which is not a bad thing, just an added expense that you may need.
I have RE 3.5" SF system and .75" spacers with a 1" body lift (so...4.25" of suspension and 1" of body for a total of 5.25" of lift) and with the correct bump stops, that clears 35's just fine with some impressive articulation too.
Unless your going to go long arm, your probably going to do a body lift suspension lift combo to clear 35" tires IMO.
Don't be aprehensive about a small (1"-1.25") body lift. They work well on TJ's and also provide some needed clearance for tires, belly up kits, and then you can also use a MML to get some driveline angle correction.
I'm glad you asked this questions. I was thinking of doing the same setup. I have the 2" spacers now an want to add a 4" lift/spings. I know I didn't help but glad someone else has the same idea I do.
I got the jeep with a bent front Dana 30 and a cracked transfer case, so I already had to replace these. I intend to make a very serious rig out of this, but im on a budget for the next few months. I got a deal on a very good 231 with SYE and the CV Driveshaft for 600 bucks, so I should get around most of the driveline vibe problems.
I found a good condition Dana 30 replacement for 200 bucks with 3.73s, but i also am thinking about a D44 off an 04 Rubicon that I can get for 1200. I wanna upgrade the axles, but im contemplating between biting the bullet now, or waiting.
Eventually I want to end up with a long arm kit and D44's (maybe a D60 in back even). Im thinking of toughing it out with 4+1 spring lift and no body until i go for the long arm.
How bad does the Body Lift look? I saw a set of fenderwell covers for 100, and wondered if anyone has those. ahh, decisions.... decisions....
I like the 4.88 suggestion, ur probably right. I have typically believed the general rule that it is best to do suspension lifts over BL's when possible, but the consensus seems to be that there isnt anything bad about the 1"BL on the TJ, So im gonna go with the 4" springs, a 1" spring spacer, and a 1" BL. If the geometry is too jacked up, I can still remove the spring spacer and clear the 35's. Im picking up the 231 and CV tomorrow afternoon, so I'll just be waiting on the Lift kit and front axle to arrive. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Thanks for the input everyone!
I had 4" RC springs with a 2" coil spacer on short arms, 6" RC shox.
As far as performance, on-road it was really tight, no wander or anything like that. If I kept my tires fairly low on pressure, it was a smooth ride. When they were aired up, big bumps would send the jolt right up your back. Offroad performance isn't that good. The axles will barely flex at all which means the whole Jeep will tilt rather than just the axles drooping. I have since put those 4" springs on my Rubicon with Skyjacker Nitro shox. What a difference. Coming from the 6" complete RC setup to a 4" mut was a huge step up for my performance and ride. I can't even imagine what a quality LA kit would do.
You want to make a serious rig, rough country is not the place to start. it is a good starter lift but not good for heavy off road.
4=2 = 6. Way too much lift fot short arms. The ride will suck and the flex will be worse.
