1/2 door zipper windows(what do you do on highway?)

what are you doing with your windows on the highway?

zipped up? unzipped and tucked under your arm?

I remember seeing a link on here awhile back for a string system attached to your zippers that keeps the window in place as you drive. anyone know what that is or where?

I now have glass sliders, but previously i used to unzip the window with one hand, hold it with the other, and steer with my knee. (Now you can see why i have sliders)

I would then take the window and fold it down between my leg and door.

When they're open, on the passenger side I have a rubber band wrapped through one of the holes in that small map pocket in the door attached to a small binder clip that holds the window from floppin out at highway speeds.

It keeps the window, when down, from flying outside and having to reach across or pull over to pull the window back in.

If you've had this happen, you know what I mean.

I plan on making something else to "keepsitfromfloppin", but Works well for now.

It's just a $30 version of what the post above you says. Free if you have the supplies, $2 if you don't.

I have those. They work exactly as advertised. It would be difficult to make them just like those are since it has the snaps and cords and everything. Worth the money, IMO. The only thing I would do different if I were to do it again is only install the front snap/attachment point. (there are 3 total) I smoke so the only time I actually use it is to open the front corner. (see pic) And that's only when it's raining or REALLY cold. Otherwise, either the window would be unzipped all the way or the dorrs would be off completely.

Would you mind posting a pic of yours? I'd like to see how they are attached to the doors. I may have to fabricate my own.... Only had my Jeep since May and the half doors have been out the whole time.... But winter/rain/snow is coming, and I'd like to be prepared.

TIA,

I made my own flexivents. I used stretch cord looped through a large fishing swivel with an aligator clip attached to it. I just clip onto the window over the zipper and it works great. The swivel allows it to slide on the cord and be clipped in any position on the window.

That's exactly what I was thinking... alligator clips. Do you use anything to tighten up the cord? I'm guessing those little "adjusters" shouldn't be too hard to find at a fabric store. They're the same things that are on hooded jackets and other draw strings.
