06flex's build (my build up)

Well I will start off with I have been waiting to start this thread for a while, I just needed stuff to post to start . A little background info first. This is my first jeep and it is a 2006 LJ that i bought new(zero % financing is great).

The first mod i did was removing the milk juggs/floaties off the front stock bumper, small but a start. I left the rear milkjuggs/floaties because I have seen and heard of them providing some protection in the rear. The first things i ordered for my jeep were Kilby steering box skid, JKS bodylift, and a JKS budget motor mount lift.


The only thing I have installed so far is the Kilby steering box skid. I have been waiting for some time off work (I work two jobs) to install the bodylift and motor mount lift. I also decided to go with the brown dog 1" mml instead of the JKS bmml because I dont want to fool with cutting the orginal bolts on the stock mm. This is also another reason i am waiting to install the bl, I should receive the browndog mm this week.( I also am selling my JKS bmml) If the browndog mml comes in before Thursday I should have the bl and mml installed by Saturday night. I am going to be installing everything by myself and i have never done a bl or mml before, so I am giving myself plenty of time.

The next mod that i did was another easy one. I painted the headlight rings black I like the look alot better.


I have also ordered and received my wheels I will use after i get my suspension lift. I bought five black caragar soft 8's and center caps.

As i said before i am planning on a suspension lift. I think I am going to go with the RE lift. I just dont know if I want to buy the 3.5 standard with adj front/rear track bars with ome shocks and install it and save and buy the control arms.Or save for a while and and buy the 4.5sf with all adj trackbars/control arms and swap for 3.5" springs. With either one of these i plan on a t-case drop at first and then a sye, cv drive shaft, and tummy tuck/bellyup as money permits. The first step is to run 33's and then after those wear out I will opt for gears and finnally 35's. Before the gears and 35's i plan on a lunch box locker for my D30 up front. I probaly will wheel maybe once every other month so most of my driving will be on road . Any suggestions will be great and i will take plenty of pictures as my jeep transforms.

I almost forgot the very very next thing I am going to buy is the LOD rear tirer carrier bumper. Any feed back on this bumper would be great as well. I am trying to put everything together a bit at a time so if anyone has input on the order i am buying things that would be appreciated. I figured that I would need to have a tirecarrier to hold my 33" tire.

oh yeah I almost forgot about those. I will be buying those after the bumper. I think i am going to be geting the A to Z or Rokmen rocker gaurds. I went through and made a list with prices of everthing i would like to add to my jeep it came out to a little over $11000.00. That is everything from tires to gears to tube fenders. I am a realist and know it is going to be an on going process.

Wheels with the center caps. Now I just need to decide between BFG MT's, Mickey Thompson MTZ, Maxis Big horns, Cooper SST's, or Mastercraft MT's .

I was going to go the butter tub centercap route but the wife said no to just order the centercap so i did.

Cooper sst's get my vote...I really like those tires.

Jeep looks good. I wish I had waited out for the 0% promo...it happened a couplde monthes after I got mine used.

I have also done some easy free mods as well. The first one was to make my foglights stay on while having my bright lights on. This is done by bending a pin back on the relay(located under the hood).




The second mod that is FOC (Free Of Charge) that i did was removing the light diffuser in the fog light. I did this by just taking the light apart and removing the light bulb and then the light bulb holder. Then i just worked the diffuser back and forth with some needle nose plyers untill it broke off.

The last and final FOC mod i did was removing fuse #4 so i could take the doors off and ride with out the dome light staying on. It is located right behind the glovebox.

I also removed the chrome grill overlay as well. I just did not like it so i removed it and now it is a decoration in my garage.

I also tow my duck boat behind my LJ so I needed a receiver hitch to do so. I purchased a mopar hitch and wiring harness from Quadratec. The install was very easy. Removed two bolts from under the frame and installed two more bolts along each side of the farme as well as reinstalling the two bolts under the frame.

Yeah I really like the MTZ's.......and the SST's..........and the BFG mt's................man I am glad that I have a while before i have to decide unfortunately

Good luck on your build...you sound like me big eye's and empty pockets. Once you get the lift on...the other stuff will fall into place. I would move that to the #1 priority..IMO I work two jobs myself and my money gets divided between my Jeep and Ducati... until I got the lift on my jeep the ducati was spoiled. Now she is dusty and mad at me.

Looks like the begining of a sweet rig. Interested in letting go of that chrome grill? Thats what my wife is looking for for her 00 TJ.

I will need to go out and try and fit it to my jeep. I bent it a little(I stepped on it) and tryed to bend it back.. It was not bad but i want to check it out on my jeep before making any promises. I will do that this weekend and get back with you.
