06 OEM Gas tank skid plate on 97?

Can anybody tell me if I can bolt a factory 06 gas tank skid plate on my early (3/06) 97 SE?

Also, is it true that the design of the gas tank changed a couple of years ago?

Most of the aftermarket skids are offered as "97-06" so am I right to assume that the factory one will bolt up?

yes they changed the skid plate design in 03, they protect more of the gas tank than earlier ones

it should bolt right up ( i think even the 15 vs 19 gal skid work)
