Thanks guys.

When it comes time to install the gears and lockers I think I'll take it to the local drive-line shop here. I've wheeled with and trust the guy that owns the shop, he belongs to our club, and many club members have used their shop extensively. He's also giving me a great deal on a driveshaft and I don't mind giving him my business. I would like to learn how to do the setup though so maybe I'll see if he'll let me watch.

I'm actually going to start hunting for a set of 44s from a waggy and building them up. That won't happen for a little while yet though.

Well, I think the lift is at 95% now. I still have some kinks to work out.

1. Get the rear stock shock mounts ground off and new ones welded on.
2. Fix the steering box which is squirting fluid out in hard steer now.
3. Figure out what to do about the end of the tie rod hitting the head of the bolt that passes through the bottom of the steering stabilizer.
4. Figure out what to do about the end of the tie rod hitting the passenger side disconnect at full turn.
5. Put in front bump stops.
6. New exhaust.
7. New drive-shaft.
8. Alignment.
9. New tires.

Anyways, here's a crappy garage pic. I don't have a wide angle lense so I can barely get the whole Jeep in the pic.

Nice work. That kit is very complicated. I didn't realize it involved removing the stock CA mounts.

What size tire are you going to run, and what kind?

Thanks guys. I'm pretty excited to drive it again (to drive at all!).

I think most long arm kits would involve cutting off the stock control arm mounts as they'd be in the way of the lower arms.

I'm actually going to go with 35x12.5x15 SSRs for now. The D30 I have in front can only be geared down to a 4.88 so I'm going to go with 35s until I get my new axles built. At that point I'll look at going up to the 37 IROKs that I wanted.

I got the steering box swapped out for one I grabbed at the wreckers tonight so that problem is fixed. I'll keep you posted.. if it's at all possible to still work this week and somehow get the Jeep fixed for the weekend runs I'll do it.

I got my custom exhaust made yesterday. They couldn't see how there'd be room to put in the muffler behind the upper control arm so they cut the cat off and put a bottle muffler above the skid plate and custom bent tubing out the back. It looks and sounds pretty good so I'm happy with that.

I went this morning and picked up my new driveshaft and they changed the yoke on my rear 44 to a 1330 and replaced the pinion seal. No more front wheel drive Jeep!

All I need now are some tires and an alignment. A friend had a set of 35" Toyo MTs that were about 75% for $500 which was a smokin' good deal but I kind of have my heart set on some super swampers.. either the SSRs or IROKs. I could clear 36" or 37" tires pretty easily but I'm concerned about the D30 holding up to them. I may stick to 35" SSRs for now.. we'll see.

So far I've put about 200 kms on the lift driving around town. First impressions are really good. The thing rides more like a full size truck now.. it's really nice over bumps and I'm really happy with it. It's much better than a stock suspension and tonnes better than the short arm lifts I've rode in that friends have. Also, I anticipated a lot of body roll being that high up but I am really surprised with how stable it feels. I can take corners in a "performance" way just like I could before the lift. So.. on road experience so far.. 9 out of 10. We'll see when I hit the trails but I think I'll be pretty happy with that part too.

So close now!
