I don't have any pics of the console (you can't see what I did after it's together) but it was real easy. All I did is take out the bolt underneath the cup holder and the bolt that's under the shift boot. I then stuck a nut (you could use a stack of washers) under the console and on top of what the bolts screw into and then put the bolts back in. Each nut is just a spacer to hold the console up off the spot it mounts to normally. Now I can finally go buy a new plastic ring to hold my shift boot down and I won't just break it again.

I'll just add to the above about raising the console first.. I did an adjustment to mine yesterday and got thinking about how you might raise yours too. In order to keep mine from hitting in 1st and 3rd I raised it because at the front of the shifter is the large round area where the bolt is to attach the shifter and that large round area sticks forward from the shifter. By raising the console it allows that to go underneath the edge of the hole. With the stick at an angle when you're in gear, whether that means tilted forward or tilted backwards depending on the gear, generally raising the console is going to make it hit sooner if it's hitting the shaft. ANYWAYS, my point is, if your shifter hits in the bottom gears (2nd, 4th, etc..), raising the console will probably make the problem worse. About the clutch.. it's been great. I'm not regeared yet (3.73 with 37s) so the clutch takes a lot of abuse from me trying to start out without stalling and it's been great so far.

I had no idea there were trails like that in Alberta. I'll have to make a trip out sometime once I have a bit more ability built into my jeep.

Yeah, i got to thinking about that too the other day when I was looking at it. I dont think that would help me much. No worries though, i'm planning an AW-4 swap into my baby soon! as soon as i can accumulate all the parts.

I want to make it out your way too. I have a bunch of friends in 'Stoon and just north of there I visit from time to time and I've heard some good stories about Nesbit Forest.

Here's a pic from the weekend. We had 5 of us hit the trails near our family cabin again and tried to make it to the mountains. I think we'd have made it except we had a broken axle shaft half way there which required disassembling the warn locking hubs and such to get at. None of us had done that before so it made for an interesting trail fix and amazingly between all of us we had the torx bit and other strange tools needed. The good thing though is just when it was getting dark out we found another really neat looking network of trails. We also found a road back from where we got to so next time we can pretty much start where we left off and get right into the mountains.

Thanks siyayeer.
I haven't updated this thread in quite some time! I haven't done many upgrades to the Jeep over the last year since I started a new job and spent almost three months out of the country. Just before I went to Boston for two months I got into a bit of a situation. I ended up stuck pretty deep in a sand bar and it took two Jeeps with winches to pull me out. When I checked my oil level it was about 5 litres over full. I drained it back down to the full level and limped it home for an oil change. The Jeep started leaking oil really bad from the rear main seal after that though. Just going to work and back was using a litre of oil per week. When I got back home to Edmonton here I changed the rear main seal and oil pan. That stopped the leak and I was glad I did it when I saw a half cup of sand in the bottom of my old dented oil pan. I notice that when I get the Jeep really hot like travelling on the highway for a few hours then it will lose oil pressure once I come into town and stop at a light. If I rev it up the pressure climbs back up but idling it likes to fall off and then the dash alarm sounds. It does that for a few stop lights and then starts to run normal again, I'm guessing after the engine temperature drops slightly. I'm hoping this will go away on its own with my third oil change here and also changing my spark plugs but if not I'm going to take the oil pan off again and change out my oil pump. I'm really hoping there's no other damage from the sand. Other things I've done.. I've changed the rear lower bushings again and I have new ones for the front sitting on the bench. I also changed my slave and master cylinders but not before the syncros in the tranny took a beating. I also wrecked both sets of auxillary lights on a winter run. Yup.. the 'ol Jeep had a tough year. I'm looking forward to making some progress with it this year though. My plans are getting bigger and bigger. Just have to figure out how to make the budget work! Lol. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well I just read through your thread. Beautiful jeep, looks great with that lift and tire combo, I think youve made my mind up for me on what direction I plan on taking with mine. Those pictures on the trail were awesome, what kinda camera do you use?
