01 Wrangler Radiator

Can someone give me an idea of the cost to repair/replace the radiator on a 2001 Wrangler 4.0
I don't want to get ripped off when I bring it in to get a price.

You can buy a new good quality radiator from www.radiatorbarn.com/ for only $150.

When you have a choice, buy American.

Dealer recently quoted my girlfriend's coworker $650.00!!!

I bought the radiator Jerry suggested above and did it myself. Very easy. Took me less than 2 hours.

Had my radiator replaced by a Jeep specialty shop...$300.
Got the 2 row core...seems to cool a little more efficiently.
Replace the hoses and clamps.

I'm not very mechanically inclined and this was an easy job. don't pay someone else to do it.

Yes, but be careful. If you buy from radiator barn, open up the box and inspect the new radiator very well BEFORE you tear your jeep apart. I made the mistake of looking at if very quickly, took everything apart only to realize that some idiot who packaged the radiator had dropped it and dented the top so that it was unuseable. This of course was on a Friday evening when nobody was around until Monday... The barn gave me a credit, and had good customer service about the whole thing, so it wasn't anything wrong there, just the guy in the factory who packaged it decided he didn't want to get in trouble and just threw it in a box. It was my fault for not checking it over real good before I tore the jeep down, now, I look over my parts really well before lifting the wrench.

I also replaced my radiator 3 weeks ago with one from Radiator Barn. VERY GOOD IDEA to fully inspect the new one before you tear everything apart. It's very easy to pull the old one out, just take your time and have a friend help if you can. I would pick up a Haynes or Clymer manual from your local AutoZone/Pep Boys etc. to use as a guide. Even if you don't do your own wrenching, it's helpful to have an idea of how your Jeep works so you don't get taken for a ride by a crooked wrench.

$150 shipped is MUCH better than $300 + labor for the dealer.

$279 from the dealer (I was in a pinch or I would have gone aftermarket). Took about 1 hour. I'd replace upper/lower hose(s) while you're at it.

I replaced mine in about 3-4 hours (taking my time) and was not difficult at all. Save yourself the labor costs and do it yourself.

Just make sure that you get the "all metal" replcement radiator.

Radiator

Just got mine done yesterday by my local wrench! $98 for the radiator - $100 for labor!
