With only 26 days until this pig needs to be loaded onto a trailer to head out for PNWJeep's M&G, I'm starting to feel a bit rushed. In the interest of "git-R-dun", I ordered a Daystar 1" body lift just in case I need it (which should be here Friday). With luck, the case will be all buttoned up by Sunday night BL or not (plus or minus the shifters-which still havent shown up yet). If that goes well, I'll get my drivelines ordered next Monday or Tuesday.
I also pulled the trigger on front and rear fox 4" 2.0 air bumpstops and a genright rear swar bar kit via Northridge4x4. Should have that by mid next week I hope--thanks David. PSC is sending me the two couplers I need to attach the hydro cooler. I did spend some time talking with Lance at PSC (very cool guy btw). I learned that the resevoir needs to be higher than the PS pump to keep the pump happy. So the plan is to fab up a fiberglass mount that will let me keep it up as high as possible. Interestingly enough, he also said my mounting location for my orbital valve was ideal. Who knew that being lazy and putting it in the stock steering box location would be "ideal." ![]() |

Very nice build. I want to know how that Stak case feels. You can come over and build my Jeep up with long arms, armor and D60s any day

Made a little more progress...
Put in the Daystar 1" bodylift (kind of scary with no axles under the rig so it took a tad longer than you'd expect) ![]() Tackled the transmission mount issues with the stak and clayton skids. The factory trans mount is too long and high to fit under the stak. So I cut it here and then took 3/4" out of the other cut side (not shown) ![]() Then I mocked the two pieces back together on the rig then burned them back into this piece. ![]() Which tucked nicely into the Clayton crossmember. Just after this pic the case was jacked up a tick to tuck things up a bit higher. ![]() Clayton's cross comes with a slotted insert that you burn in once you have your position set. ![]() things fit well. ![]() I don't know how people fit this case without a BL. Even with the 1" BL it still needed almost two inches of hammering to clear this monster. ![]() Looks like at least for now the pinion brake won't be fitting. I'd need to slot the rear crossmember almost an inch to clear it. Maybe after everything else is done, I'll go back and rework the cross to clear the rotor and pads. For now though, the good news is the front and rear outputs sit about perfect relatively speaking. ![]() Good progress over all though. |

Just violated my Parole

wouldnt it be better to have the pinion break on the front side of the transfer case so you have the mechanical advantage? the stopping power of the break is going to be multiplied by the reduction correct?
just a thought |

in this case the pinion brake isnt to stop the rig but rather to lock the rear driveline to allow for front burns (digs). |

removed the pinion brake tonight, primed and painted a bunch, and bolted up the exhaust. Looks like I'll need to massage the rear crossmember just a little under the rear output. The rear output flange is maybe a 1/16" above the crossmember so I'm thinking it'd hit (a lot). It was past grinding time though so I didnt get after it tonight. The exhaust fits nicely, just needs a turndown and that's done.
No pics tonight but I did get these in the mail from Northridge4x4 today. ![]() ![]() |

No progress today. Spent the day consulting at a clinic about 230 miles from home. Left at 5am and just got home at 9pm. I'm tired, so no work tonight. I did have a nice box to greet me when I got home though. I've been long overdue for a rear trunk. This tuffy box should be just the trick. Thanks again Northridge.
