01 T.J. Hemi Swap?
Alright guys just lookn for as many pics and info from people who know people or have done the 5.7 hemi swap in a t.j.. I know different problems occur and different steps need to be taken on the wiring issues because I know just about every year t.j. is different in wiring from the next... so if anybody has some pics of some clean installs please share!!!

Forget that site.... They are going to charge you like $15,000 and up..... YOU CAN DO IT MUCH MUCH CHEAPER
You can get it done yourself for bout $8,000 or so. I just had this swap finished myself not too long ago. I can give you plenty of information, if you ask questions, otherwise i wont think of all there is to tell you. For your wiring.... You need to get in touch with Tony Squier at Hotwire auto (google it, something will turn up). You may have to replace your entire gauge cluster (I cant remember which year that becomes required). You will have to swap out your fuel system because the hemi is a little bit more advanced than the Jeep's system. You will have to replace your gas pedal and gas pedal mount because the Hemi is drive by wire, not cable actuated. The wiring conversions is simple and costs $1300. you send Tony your Jeep fuse block, and the Hemi Computer... Maybe the hemi wiring harness, (I cant quite remember now). Tony will modify your fuse block and send you a NEW wiring harness to hook up to everything, he will reprogram the Hemi computer to take out things like the EGR, and Cruise, and some other **** taht you wont need or have. There are a few companies that offer bolt on parts for the swap (primarily Teraflex) but most of what they sell, wont be that hard to make. Tony Squire can point you in the direction of a $700 radiator that is supposed to be Nascar quality, top of the line ****, or I can point you in the direction of a radiator that looks like a stock jeep radiator, bolts right up, and will handle all the hemi has to offer... on top of that, it only costs like $250-300, and has by far the BEST customer service you can ever ask for. |

I dont have very many pics of mine, and what few I have really aren't much help, but I can share them if you would like.
As a matter of fact, I have a good wealth of info on the hemi swap. A few documents full of info. I have tech manuals for the 5.7 Hemi, the 545RFE tranny, as well as some info from Teraflex about the requirements and instructions for the swap. If you are interested let me know, and I can email you everything I have. |

Now be careful with Tony, he kinda bends the truth a little bit. He will tell you that he makes all this stuff in house and that he does this and that and the truth is a little off. He wants to get a warehouse full of parts going so he can supply every part needed for a hemi swap, but some of the stuff "he makes" was actually made somewhere else. NONETHELESS, he is still pretty much the hemi swap expert and can get you taken care of no matter what. The biggest part of the Hemi swap is the computer/wiring. Which is the main reason I didnt end up doing the swap myself. It is very simple to do all the work because it is pretty much just plug and play. HOWEVER, there are many things you have to think about that you might not. Just like I said you will have to get certain functions taken out of the computer programming. I did not know any of that until after going back through Tony a few times to find out what was the cause for a few problems I had. In my opinion, you should just buy a computer from him (which is a little more expensive) so that you have it programmed perfectly for your vehicle with all the right, and none of the wrong, data. If you would like Mark Faulkner's email (from Teraflex) just let me know and I can get it to you, he was a lot of help too, but I think Tony is more than capable to steer you in the right direction no matter what problem you may encounter. |
