YJ Tub Swap--How do I DEFROST??

I put a YJ tub on my CJ a few years ago, and put the YJ dash in along with it. Now I want to go back to the original CJ dash so I ripped the YJ dash out today and notice that the top of the tub where the W/S frame sits is different, no where really to put the cutouts for the defrost that goes thru the WS frame on the CJ.

What did all of you do when you put the YJ tubs on your CJ's to have a functional defroster? I still have my CJ tub out back and was thinking of cutting that section out and putting it in, but wanted to see if there were other options.

Thanks!!

Actually I think thats what most people do... cut out the old CJ defroster ducting and weld it in to the YJ tub... really the only mod you need besides the fuel tank...

yep, some just leave the YJ metal and cut out the ovals (real close at the inner edges) OR use cut off wheel or air nibbler to cut just ahead of the ovals (but still under the cowl seal) and remove the whole section. If your going to a CJ w/s frame to match up the defrost, you will need to move and weld the two nuts for the windshield inner brackets (plastic screw knobs).

Nothing really to see...the two options given are it. Either trace the cut-outs from your CJ tub or cut & graft that section of the cowl. I've done it both ways.

Here's a link to the pics of what I did on mine.

Wish I could organize the pics better, but photobucket isn't very editing friendly, or I just don't know what I'm doing. (very likely)
Anyway, scroll down 'bout halfway, you'll see the pics there.
