YJ spring conv.

What do you guys think about this...
http://www.rocky-road.com/wranglerconversion.html
I want to change to YJ springs for a little better ride and this seemed like a good solution to fact that the springs are a little longer. Is there something better or a better place to buy from?

Thanks

I have the YJ springs on my CJ. I used a conversion kit from BDS part #124021. It went on great. I also used BDS suspension lift kit #408h. Here is there catalog: http://www.bds-suspension.com/BDSLibrary/catalog/Jeep07v2.pdf

Don't know as you need a "kit" to do the YJ conversion. Just use a CJ rear shackle hanger up front. Drill out the crossmember rivet and it becomes the new forward bolt hole for the front shackle mount.

I've never run stock YJ springs on a CJ before but I think you may lose lift since they're "flatter" springs (stock). Might want to do at least a small lift?

As for prices... that website's spring prices look decent.

Well VaCJ79, I have a PaCJ79 and let me tell you:
If what you are looking for is a better ride from your CJ, you are doing one of the best things!
A long time ago I was probably among the first to convert to OME Wrangler springs.

Here is what it took me to do it:
1. Rear CJ shackle/spring hangers up front. (with rivet drilled out, etc., etc. to get the extra inch in length that you need.
2. Front YJ spring plates.
3. Rear CJ, or better yet, a good after-market pair of YJ shackles.

By all means, don't buy a fancy kit, they make me sick. Jeeps are so easy to make/adapt things for, you don't need to buy a "kit" for every single thing that you want to do to your CJ.

Oh, and OME is the best ride, hands down!

You're headed in the right direction!
Good Luck.

Like Besrk & BigTorque said, there's cheaper wayd to go about doing it than buying a kit. emember this: Most of the stuff that you see aftermarket kits for CJ's has already been homebrewed for cheaper. This conversion has been covered on every Jeep forum for many years now and a little searching will turn up multiple ways of accomplishing it.

I bought the "kit" because I wanted all new parts and it was more convenient to get everything at one time in one package rather than order everything separate. I was able to sell a lot of other parts that I had and turn that money into buying a complete kit to make life a little simpler. If you can afford to purchase the kit, I would go for it. I liked getting all new parts in one kit instead of trying to piece everything together. The other guys do have very good points as well. You can save some money by piecing it out. This is just my .02. Good luck with your project!
