Here is a link to the Part numbers for Dana 300 speedometer gears. Go to your local Jeep dealer and order it, take the part number with you. I got one about 6 months ago and I think it was about $15. http://cjoffroad.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=363&SearchTerms=speedometer,gea r

I called the Stealership with the part number today and they told me $42.70 + tax. Anyone got a dealership they can reccomend for me. Ill pay shipping. That just seems outrageous to me.

Have you tried eBay motors? I've seen speedo gaers on there before, run a search with the part number.

It's real easy, takes all of 5 minutes. On the top driver side of the case is where the cable goes into the case. There is a wishbone shaped retainer, pull the one bolt out that holds the retainer and pull the gear out. Put the new gear unit on the end of the cable and reinstall it.

Ouch! Worth a shot anyway. I wonder what kind of material that gear is made out of?

Wow... something that takes 5 minutes on my Jeep... I may be able to get it done in under a half hour! Sweet!

You need a 29 tooth gear, part # 52068151. Here is the calculator http://www.jeeptech.com/javaAps/Speedo.html

I just called my local dealer and asked for a price on a 34 tooth gear and he told me $23 and about one week to get it. (just for a reference)
