worst pic of my CJ

first of all, in it's the driveway, which is no fun. there's all sorts of crap in the background, the lighting's awful (the front of the jeep is almost invisible!) but it's the only recent pic I have. And i feel like it's coming along nicely, so i wanted to share. I have to paint, install the locker i bought months ago, and get a 2.5" lift and it'll be "done" whatever that means...

looking nice. You should definitely upgrade that rear end before you install a locker.

like an axle swap? or upgrade what i've got, with like 1 piece axles and stuff. i figure with a wheezing 258 turning 31's, the amc 20 should be fine for now.

Looks good, I like the cage. Where did you get it? Did you make it?

Back to the one piece axils. Installed a set in one last winter along with a lock right for one of my buddies. Ran the trails with him all summer with a 304, 33's and 3.54 gear. Held up just fine.

1pc axles at the very least. I destroyed my AMC 20 with 31 All Terrains and a wheezing 258 I6. Consider trussing the housing and welding the centersection to the tubes. Then you'll have a damn strong rear (for your 258/31 combo)

destroying the rear might be a good excuse to regear
seriously though, i'll look into that.

Destroying the rear end ... and him mentioning trussing and welding the tubes... means his pumpkin did a 90 deg turn on 'em... at least thats what it sounds like...

No regearing is gonna help that! :P

i didn't mean regearing would help. I meant that if I destroyed the rear, and had to get in there and rebuild it, it'd be a good opportunity to get something a little shorter than the 2.73's that are in there now.

yup,,,I had the 2.73s, then I added Moser 1pc shafts, then 3.73s and Auburn posi.....now all of that is sitting on a shelf (basically) doing nothing. HUGE difference b/t the 2.73s and 3.73s
