Won't Crank

I recently left my jeep on an uphill slope, and then when I went to crank it up it would not crank. The motor turns and tries to crank but wont. When i turn the key to crank it, the motor tries to turn over at the point when i let off of the key. My gas tank is full and when i give it gas, the jets squirt gas into the carberetor so i know it is getting gas. I thought it may be the timing, but i have adjusted the dist several different positions with the same results. Do you guys have any idea as to what may be happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This problem has happened before when it was left on an uphill slope.

If you're alternator is bad and the battery is dead, that would keep it from starting.

its probably floaded..On a hill the float can open and drown the engine..Or just the opposite..Move to levelish ground, hold foot to floor to keep the venturies open in the carb and crank over to see it fires up..On a fully charged battery of course
