Witco soft top help!

Hi guys, first post. I just bought my first Jeep, and the PO gave me all the parts he had collected over the years. There is a used Witco top, possibly 5100 series. I tried to find the instructions on line, but came up empty. I was wondering if anyone could tell me, by looking through the pics, if I have all the parts. It looks like I might be missing the vertical piece that would mount behind the door, I only see one.

I don't plan on using this top. The jeep has a bestop on it now. The Witco top is in good shape but is used. Zippers work, no rips, windows a little cloudy.

How much is it worth?
the site is full of great info! Thanks in advance.

Those aren't all Whitco parts and yes you are missing one top door rail. The top of the door rails are the long one with the opening and that black plastic 'top hat'. The top hat actually goes through the hole, not on the end of it to capture the top of the door opening upright bar with the claw feet on it.

Everything black to the right of the windshield channel are YJ parts or bestop or, but not Whitco.

Same for that tube to the left of the top rail, don't know what it is but it doesn't belong.

These are the only two pieces you're missing.

NOS OEM Jeep CJ7 CJ-7 Whitco Soft Top Horizontal Rods! : eBay Motors (item 140387984283 end time Apr-02-10 05:48:26 PDT)

Would be pretty easy to make. It's just a straight rod with a little loop on one side. Get a piece of steel and tack a washer on there and it would work.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. It wouldn't be too hard to fab that piece and save the 60 clams that guy wants on ebay.

Those ebay rods are useless, they are missing the connectors to fit the back frame rods. These look like black 'top hats' and they fit in the holes in the rods.

I see a beat up one on the rod that I have. Those are probably a hard to find, name your price, type of thing. Looks like a job for Duct Tape!

That almost looks like the one I had on my 79 CJ5 Renegade with the Levis package. Is that just light blue or blue denim? Didn't Besttop buy up Whitco, and Steelehorse buy up Kyline?

Nah, they will work without the little tophat piece. I ran my 85 like that for several years after I rolled my Jeep and smashed my hardtop.

The back frame rods just poked up through the holes in the rods. Then tension from the top kept the back frame rods in place.

Be better to have the top hats, but they aren't necessary; they just tighten things up a little bit.

The little top hat things look like what they give you to put the wheels on kids toys, the things that you tap on the axle and break, most big hardware stores have a big assortment of them.
