wiring in a warn wench
I am ready to do a dedicated ground system for my 83 CJ7 and I want to make sure the warn wench is correctly wired in. The wench positive cable now goes to the solenoid and the ground to the bolt mounting the power steering pump to the manifold. I don't think the wiring to the solenoid is the way to go. Should it go directly to the battery? What size cables should be used for both the -and +? My wench is a an older M8274.
I don't think my 'wench' will ever be wired correctly! (sorry, I can never help myself) As for a winch, I would get a close to the main power source (the battery) as possible (even the ground) and use the highest amperage cable possible. Jeephammer has some great posts on how to make cables using welding wire and supplies found locally for much less than auto parts stores -- search brother, search.
