I saw how to wire these option six months ago and can find them now that I need them. The ignition is a TFI with MSD Coil & the delay wipers can use the Ford relay (Motorola) but the washers won't work. I found the bigger picture in the recycle bin but really don't understand it. I hope I can do this without getting the 83 or later harness.
I missed your post before Coas. I'll have to look over the Ford wiring again to see why the Washer pump wire has to be moved. I'm glad you got it working though.
Just a note, if your installing a OEM tach, it plugs into an inline plug under the dash. This goes to the (+) terminal on the coil. $ Cylinder and aftermarket tachs normally hook up to the (-) terminal. So don't get them mixed up. If you hook an OEM tach to the (-) lead, your jeep won't run.

There is internal bridge at the Ford switch where as at the AMC it is external(red/white wire).
So, at the Ford switch the washer terminal was moved to the center.
And yes, finally things starting to work out for me, the wipers, and that thread at off-road BBS about EMI and the TFI upgrade I managed to solve with JYG kind assistance. simply the best ignition system for the $.
Interesting, I didn't think they would change the wiring on the switch much but Ford did a lot of improvements on other electrical systems that AMC never changed.
Yeah that post about EMI on the ignition system was interesting. I'll have to make some changes on my jeep now. You were the one who found the problem with JYG?
buckeyecj, you will need to cut about an inch of the shaft and continue the flat side for 1/2 inch if you want it to look stock.
Unfortunately yes. it appears that I'm quite efficient in creating exotic problems.
