Wire question

How many amps does the positive wire going to the distributer pull?

There isn't one.

You are 11 days too early for April Fools Day.

Assuming the OP is correct and has a Power wire going to the Distributor, I assume he must have an HEI distributor.

I don't know what the current draw on an HEI is but I do know that when the engine is not running there is no significant current draw.
Unlike the Duraspark that draws 9 to 12 amps. wich is why they burn up when the key is left ON.
