Wiper switch w/pictures- what should I do?

Hi- I have a 79 CJ7 that I am redoing. A friend is helping me rewire the dash and suggested I replace the wiper switch The existing wiper switch is "square" and one of the terminals is loose. Local auto parts stores dont carry a new switch so I orderd one off Quadratec -says fits 68-82. There is a clip that fits on 3 terminals on the old switch but will not attach on the new switch. Has anyone run into this/ is there an alternate part that may work? In the picture the new one is on the left and the old is on the right. Thanks

To me, it looks like the two upper tangs in pic just need to be adjusted.

id call them up and let them know, they described it wrong and there is no way that will fit without modification. call them and tell them their description is wrong and dont pay for return shipping either, since it is not your fault, its all on them. I think 4wd has the right style switch, not sure

I called 4wd.com and there is a specific switch that works with the 3 prong plug. They are shipping it to me and when I mentioned Jeep Forum the guy shipped it for free! I'll send the other one back for a refund/credit. Thanks everyone for helping me out

Your old one is for the harness used in pre 1983 where there was no intermittent wiper option. There is a center 3 prong plug that comes from your wiper motor and a the other two prongs are the red and yellow wires coming from your dash harness. The later style harness has the same two wires, but they come down to a circular plug that fits either the round non intermittent switch or the plug for the intermittent harness. In short, they sent you the wrong thing

No, the delay wiper switch is much more complicated. THat is the right one for a replacement. dslywalker has a picture but it needs to be updated a little.

please excuse the picture, first time on a Linux editor...

Wow, then I stand both corrected and amazed at the crap they pass off as a replacement switch.

Kinda Like DSDD instead of SSDD when it comes to replacement parts. At least they are still making some replacement parts. .

Bump from a while ago, but seems relevant:
I just installed the omix-ada switch pictured above. For the first time in the 16 years I've had the jeep, the washer works from the wiper/washer switch. Woo hoo

EXCEPT - the washer pumps turns on briefly each time I move the wipers from off to low, low to hi, and back down as well. Basically, it very briefly activated the washer at each detent on the switch. Do all the replacement switches do this or is mine on the verge of failure? It also seems to turn on the washer at the slightest push of the switch. Anyone see similar behavior?
