wiper switch

I've got a 78 cj7 and it the PO removed the windshield wiper motor and all the linkage, to save weight, it was used at Glamis Dunes. I have gotten everything back together, have gotten the three wires back in the connector. the yellow and red I'm not sure of! the red to the left side of the switch and the yellow to the right! Do I remember correct? Tried a search but came up with nothing that would help. Thanks

You can try it both ways.

If it's backwards the wipers will only work when the switch is pushed in.

It won't hurt anything.

Mine look like this:

Replacement ones look like this:
