Winch wiring...

Ok everyone, this is going to sound out there, but I cant figure out how to wire my winch up... I just bought a used Warn XD 9000 and it has a power lead coming off of it but no negative lead. Does the winch ground itself out when it is bolted up or am I missing the negative lead. My buddy has an older Warn winch and he has the negative and the positive leads coming off the winch. I have this feeling I am just missing the negative lead but any help would be greatly appreciated...!!!

Thanks ahead of time!!!! You all have never let me down!!

I've got an XD9000i. It has a negative lead, just as thick as the positive.

Your winch should have two, thick leads coming from it. A red and black line of equal length. I ran mine straight to the battery.

On my 9.5ti the negative lead is bolted to the underside of the motor.

My M10000 will work with just a chassis ground but I run a cable from the battery negative to the winch body just to be sure...

Look on the underside. There is probably a empty screw socket. My winch has the black cable run off that. If you unscrew it.. it looks like theres nothing there.
