Will it work?

Im looking a picking up a 79 cj7 frame to replace my 82 frame thats rotted out in the back. My question is will everything just swap over? The 82 frame has a t5 in it while the 79 was a quadratrac.

Nope

Just kidding. I beleive the shock mounts are different up front and there is like a million different skid plate configurations but they all bolt the same way pretty much. As long as they are both cj7 frames not 5,6,8s and the engines are the same any other differences should be very minor like a bolt size or something.

There were some minor changes to the frame over the years between 1979 and 1982, for instance the shock absorber bracket was changed in 1982. However none of this is major.

The same crossmember supposedly was used for all gearboxes but you may find they do not match or bolt up, a minor issue that many seem to find when swapping gearboxes.

EDIT: Dang, Maverick beat me to it.
