Will TJ or JK Headlight fit in a CJ?

I have been thinking about this since the thread of the LED head lights was started. Since TJ and JK lights are also 7" would they fit in the CJ? This would give the option of putting in H4 light or H13 bulbs in the CJ. I would make a new wire harness to attach to the new bulbs using relays and use the existing harness to trigger the relay. Below is a diagram I created with the assistance of JeepHammer's Headlight relay diagram, how the HID headlight aftermarket wireharness works. What do you think will it work or does it look like it will melt the original harness.

Just peeked out the window - my neighbor's TJ has the same 7" round sealed beam like we have. Dunno if the JK uses those or not. Probably not, just a modular light made round to look like the sealed beam that has specific mounting ears to screw to the core support behind the plastic grille. Here's a random Google search image:

Anyone with a JK want to confirm?

Thanks. You are correct the TJ headlight as the as the CJ. I just assumed they were different. You know what they say when you assume......
I looked up the JK headlight and spoke to a friend that has them and they are modular. I wonder if they would work in the CJ grill being held in place with the CJ Headlight ring?

The bucket may fit but you might have to fart with the chrome bezel attachment.

or maybe not...

I just installed (2) JK headlights I had into my CJ. Bought (2) h4 male by h13 female harness off ebay for like 8 bucks. Had to lightly file the plastic to get the trim rings to fit. Entire project done in under an hour. Even the orientation tabs on the plastic housing fit right into the bucket. Going to install H13 LEDs.

You can purchase H4 replacement headlamps that will be plug and play into your CJ harness and headlight bezels.

Maybe my lighting upgrade thread will be helpful.

That wiring diagram is too small to read.

I'm curious about HIDs being mentioned. True HIDs belong in projector housings, not reflector housings. They have way too much stray light in a reflector housing and blind oncoming drivers. Don't be that guy!

And I have read the same of the LED 'conversions' also. Each light assembly is designed for a specific bulb style, and using a different bulb affects the light pattern.

Yup. Just because different bulbs fit the housing doesn't mean they should be used. That said, Stock JK headlights suck according the guys I know that have one.

'84 CJ-7: Yota axles (spartan locked front, e-locked rear) 4" BDS, 1" Daystar & 3/8" shackle lifts, 35" X-Terrains on steelies, YJ Tub & family roll bar, heater blower upgrade, 4.2L w/MC2100 & Team Rush, Warn 8274. Rebuilt 4.2/4.0 hybrid, AX15 and twin sticks/clocking ring waiting to go in.

The advertised position for a topless, dirty jeep girl has been filled......by my wife. Thanks to all that applied.
<------------and yes, that is her.
