Will 33's fit a stock 1980 CJ5?

I want to put 33 inch tires on my CJ5 but do not know if they will fit. Any ideas? Do I have a chance for major rubbing on the black plastic fenders?

I have a freind with a '79 CJ5 and he has a 1" body lift and a .75" shackle lift with 33" tires and they don't rub while we are trailing. I think they will fit but without some lift it, they will probably rub when you start wheeling offroad.

It also depends on how worn/flat your springs are.

86 CJ7 Laredo- '98 4.0L , '94 Fuel Injection and Electronics, 2 1/2" skyjacker, 3/4" Rock Crusher shackle , 1" body lift, T5, DANA 300, D30 front w/Aussie locker , amc 20 rear w/Aussie locker and Moser axles, 3.31 gears, and 32" BFG MT's.

You will need at least 2 inches of lift for 33s.

31's will fit nicely on a cj but 33's will rub. You could get a cheaop shackle lift for a temp fix if you want otherwise you will need a body or better yet a suspension lift of at least 2 inches.

They will rub even if you have a 4" lift if you do any trails that are even somewhat difficult. If it's just a street queen, you could do a 2 inch shackle lift and maybe a 2 or 3 inch body lift to get by. If you cant do that, I'd put 31's on it.

2004 Rubicon, 6" lift, 35s, winch, hard top, full doors, bumpers, tire carrier and rock sliders.

If you use it, expect rubbing. I have a 2.5" lift with 1" or so shackle lift, and TJ flares. I would rub a little on a full flex situation on the trail without the TJ flares, but now the tires tuck up nicely.

4" lift and consider a 1" body lift or TJ flares to avoid rubbing up front.
