Wide track axles vs. Wagoneer axles

How much length difference is there in the wagoneer dana44's and factory widetrack Dana 30/ model 20 axles??? Also how hard is it to swap out wagoneer 44's in a narrow track cj5?

NT Waggy axles are ~61", NT CJ axles are ~51" WT CJ Axles are ~ 54".

"How hard" is a depends on your fabrication skills and what you are doing with the springs. SOA? SUA? Either way you will have to outboard your front springs.

There is a metric crap ton of info on this board alone on this swap. Search is your friend!

Those numbers aren't really apples to apples. The NT Waggy length there looks like a front axle width (though a little narrow, but wider than a rear) and the CJ widths listed there look like rear axles.

Fronts are a bit wider in each case, but a NT FSJ axle is generally about 4-5" wider than the respective CJ WT axle.

Scout 44's are almost as wide as narrow track FSJ axles.

Scout and Waggy Dana 44 front axles are only 1/4" difference in width if you have the same outers on them. I have a waggy D44 on my XJ and a scout D44 on my CJ7. So the 61.5" WMS to WMS is about right for either one with chevy/Jeep knuckles and ford hubs which is the common way to go.

The rear Waggy D44 axle is 59" WMS to WMS (late 80's model) and the Scout II rear D44 axle is 58" WMS to WMS.
I had a scout axle on the back of my CJ7 for about 3 years.
