You might be surprised how much difference cool air makes, especially on a super hot manifold.

I'm hoping to have a true, cool air kit for us Weber guys by next summer.

You answered your own question. Those little rectangular filters are sitting on top of Weber carburetors and the mounting flange is rectangular, so the OEM housing won't work on them.

The picture I posted shows the ever popular Weber 32/36 conversion that usually comes with the small rectangular air filter assembly. The same one is supplied with the Weber 38 DGES but a lot of people don't realize that an adapter also made by Weber can be purchased to adapt the factory OEM air cleaner assembly to the Weber carb like I have as shown here: Carbs Unlimited Weber Carburetor Conversion Kit

There are also other air cleaner adapters that can be bought as well as other air filter assemblies too and they can be found on this page: Accessories Page and this one: Air Cleaners for Weber Carburetors

It's amazing what can be found by doing a little research and Googling keywords.

I just saw this. Looks interesting for the folks who have gone with MOPAR MPFI since it could also be useful for water crossing. But I wonder about noise inside (did I just really say that for a CJ!!!!).

Transdapt makes an adapter for those of us running an MC2100 to mate the stock air cleaner to the Motorcraft carbs. (provided the MC2100 has a 5-1/8" flange and the carter has a 2-5/8" flange like I think they do).

'84 CJ-7: Yota axles (spartan locked front, e-locked rear) 4" BDS, 1" Daystar & 3/8" shackle lifts, 35" X-Terrains on steelies, YJ Tub & family roll bar, heater blower upgrade, 4.2L w/MC2100 & Team Rush, Warn 8274. Rebuilt 4.2/4.0 hybrid, AX15 and twin sticks/clocking ring waiting to go in.

The advertised position for a topless, dirty jeep girl has been filled......by my wife. Thanks to all that applied.

It's a bit pricy but if you're interested in a cold air system you can get this.



For the Weber crowd... you'll have to mount it on this adapter.



Here: K&N Plenums & Weber Adapter - Custom Plenum

I use the adapter for a traditional air cleaner but I could put the plenum, tube (or snorkle), and filter on at any time.

K&N has a few options to build your own.

EDIT: One of them was posted right above, guess I should have posted faster.

'85 CJ-7 - 258 bored .030 w/ mid level cam, 4.0 head, Clifford intake and header, Weber 38, TFI w/ MSD 6, Black Diamond 3" lift, Daystar 1/2" lift shackles, 33x12.5 Goodyear Duratracs with stock 3.31 gears.

I may be old but I'm quick on the draw.

Here's another with a larger input (& less expensive... $93.99) from Spectre... you'll still need the carb adapter for the Weber (not for the Motorcraft).

I found it at Summit Racing (Plenum at Summit Racing) & JEGS (Plenum at JEGS).

Some guys use the bonnet off of an early 90s Cadillac, and they can be found cheap at local pull a parts. I picked one up for my MC2100 install, but havent gotten around to modifying it. With the spacer on the MC2100 the bonnet sits too high and rubs the hood on my CJ.

Is the MC2100 better than what, the stock carb?

Absolutely. There's a metric crap ton of info about them, but basically the MC2100 is less likely to have idle jet problems and runs well in off camber situations.
