lose the carter carb, with any carb jolted like that you run a risk of breaking a mount or a casting, but you will find that if you replace the carter with a MC2100 series carb with the 1.08 jets, and bypass the computer your jeep will run loads better.

What was I thinking

Well it's realy hard to get shocked with 12 volts. Try it, grab both post on your battery at the same time.
The only possible explination is that for some reason the solenoid was activated and in the process of removing it, it caused a series of arcs that you felt in your hand. However the solenoid should not be activated with the key off. That is unless you tried to remove the carb with the engine running. ![]() Are all your hoses connected on the carb? There are two vent hoses that carry away gas fumes from the bowl. If the hoses are disconnected then fuel could possibly splash out and catch on fire. The MC2100 is a great carb but it won't pass any visual emission inspection. |
