Why can't I find an Aussie locker for sale?

Why not put a spartan locker in: http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDet...Spartan_Locker. I just put one in my XJ front D30 and it works great and not noisy on the street in 2WD. Aussie's are hard to find, sell out quickly, and then get back ordered for months. Especially the D30 ones which go on many different models of 4WD rigs.

I have heard on local boards that There is a shortage of the right kind of steel in Australia that is causing them to be back ordered.

I too was looking for one so I posted a WTB thread in a local Jeep club forum.

Found one, new in the box for $200. :-)

I haven't installed it yet because I had to buy a vice to hold my carrier so I can remove the ring gear (I have a little baby vice and been needing to get a "real" vice). Best part is I had money for the vice because the Aussie was cheap enough I had $$ left over in the Jeep fund. Got the vice yesterday, but I have to head out of town for work so no install until late next week.

I looked into the spartans but I couldn't find much out about them. That worried me a little. Does anyone know anything about the spartan locker?

They're made by Yukon gear (subsidiary of Randy's Ring and Pinion or vice versa). I believe that they are at least assembled and packaged in the USA, if not made here. A lot of the XJ and WJ guys run them. There are some good youtube vids of guys using them. I have not heard of anyone breaking one on the XJ or WJ forums. You can always call Randy's and talk to someone, too. I haven't put mine through the paces yet, so I can't attest for it's durability, but I doubt I'll break it on the front of an old Cherokee. Randy's has them for your CJ.

The spartan locker is a "lunchbox" style locker, made from 9310 material for added strength, patent pending alignment pins to aid installation, eliminates the side gear thrust washers, includes a crosspin shaft, and increased dimensional contact of the teeth to increase strength. PM me if you have any more questions.
