Who uses ImageShack to store their pictures?

Does anyone use Imageshack to store their pics on for putting images on threads, or anywhere on message boards? They've recently revamped their site (for the worse). Are they now charging you $12/year to do this? I've been storing pics on there for at least 6 years and it's been free. But it appears they pulled the old bait and switch tactic to now be able to extort money from it's users. The free stuff is now only for 30 days. I just noticed a message along the side that says I have 5 days left to upgrade!!

I'm hooked due to a 21 page build thread, not to mention pics linked to it on other sites. What are some other solutions you guys are using? I used to use photobucket but it was having access issues so I switched, but I fear they will most likely follow suit if they haven't already. Am I stuck paying this every year now? What say you?

I'm in the same boat...

From ImageShack's website...

Quote:
What happens to my account after the free 30 day free trial if I don't upgrade?
All old accounts that do not have premium subscriptions will still work. You will be able to login, download and view images, however you will not be able to upload new images.

What happens to all my images?
All your images that were uploaded in the past or during the free trial period will remain in your account indefinitely. If you choose to sign up in the future you will be able to get access to all of the latest premium features on ImageShack and upload an unlimited amount of images, as long as your use of our service is not for business.

Okay, it's not sounding quite as bad now but I'll still have to pay. Although mine said I had 5 days left but according to them we should still have 35 days till we need to pay.

"How will the new ImageShack work if you're an existing customer?

Simply login to the new site and all your current images and albums will be there. ImageShack is moving to a premium service model. Starting February 1st 2014 all old accounts, that do not have a premium or pro subscription, will be given a free trial period of 30 days to try the new ImageShack. After the free trial period ends, all old accounts that would like to continue using ImageShack services will need to subscribe to one of the offered premium subscription plans. If you decide you do not want to pay for a premium account we will still host your existing images. You can still login, browse and share and even get links."

Heres a link to an album I use for my CJ to use as a reference: http://imgur.com/a/RL9Sb

You can link to individual pics, choice of size and complete albums if needed.
If your familiar with Reddit.com, imgur is used almost exclusively.

I have all my pictures on either my Iphone, or computer, and upload from there, directly to the forum. I've never used any picture hosting website to link pics to the forum, and never had any trouble. I guess I'm confused on why you would have to?

Here, did it again......uploaded right off my desktop from my computer.

Photobucket is also free. But I also post pictures directly to the site not using an image hosting site. Its easier, I don't have to worry about deleteing the picture from my image host site. Because once you do its no longer on Jeep forum and the Thread does no one any good anymore. Plus work blocks all image hosting sites. I when ever someone uses a site to post a picture I can not see it unless I use my phone.

I had this account way before becoming a member here, but that said, it's much cheaper. You have to buy a yearly membership here, and then I'm not sure if you can link it to other places or what happens when you no longer pay the annual fee. Having them at a picture hosting site allows them to be available for posting anywhere, and you can put pics other than Jeep pics there too. And it's been free up until this point. Not to mention I've got about 700 pics there. And let us not forget the recent problems this site had converting it's pictures when the new guys bought it.

I don't have paid membership here anymore. I did not renew yet. You don't have to be a paid member to post pictures using the jeepforum site.
Yes they did have issues with pictures at first but it seems to be stable now.

No but I believe your limited to like 5 per post and gallery storage space is small.

Like others, I find posting pics directly from my phone or computer, using the JF upload, to be far easier then using a hosting site.

The pics will remain in the thread, and it works regardless of membership status, although non-paying members are a bit limited, I think.

Speaking of membership fees, I find them to be cheap considering all the free information and advice that is found here. Many regulars should consider ponying up, IMO.

I've got my own web hosting, so I just throw my images up on there. It's not free though. But at least I am in control of everything. Unlimited bandwidth and storage space.
