Whitco top & hard doors - how do I make them work togther?

I have the original Whitco top. I want to use my hard doors but the plastic windshield/door seal that supports the horizontal section above the door gets in the way - door won't shut. Has anyone figured out how to make this combo work?

Really, nobody has ever run into this issue and come up with a solution? I am thinking about buying a set of door seals and modifying them. Anyone tried that?

I also had to reverse the vertical bars that are behind the door frame and bend them a little bit.
I also found I can run them without the vertical bars. its not as important if you don't run the soft doors. I just let the top bar rest on the door frame.
My next challenge this year is I just picked up a set of yj half doors. I don't have any uppers yet so I need to figure out the best solution for the whitco top.

You need to have a Whitco top that was designed to use with the Hard doors. It has special hardware for supports and it is cut unique for the hard doors.

My CJ-7 came with this setup from the factory.

rough rider

so it looks to me that the rods over the doors are up higher due to a longer vertical rod (with a boomerang shape brace) and the receptacle on the windshield must be a small one with just a "cup" for the rod?

Is the canvas the same? in other words if I came up with or made new rods could I use one of my existing tops?

thanks!

The top horizontal rods are square tubing and is separate from the vertical square tubing that has a plate bolted to it for the top material to snap onto.
