Yes, it's OEM. Looks like an 85 Spring Special.....rare indeed.
You will not find new seats made like the older ones. The aftermarket stuff is too thick in the seat and you sit too high. I'm old school and like the smaller non reclining versions better (76 to 90).
Piping was used OEM on the seats. My Laredo and reg blk seats have it.

Honestly, there is a greater chance that someone will have a full set with great passenger and rear, but a ripped driver seat, and want to buy your good one seat, than someone having a single mint seat and wants to sell it.....it could happen, but IF they know what they have, it will be priced stupid high. I would sell the one seat and get a full set of reg factory seats if it were me. plus your CJ is not a spring special...just has that seat. E-bay and craigs list seem to be the sources. Forums like this too of course.
I didnt realize the passenger seat is the original seat in good condition
the driver seat has been replaced with a generic black "best" seat
I like em both to be honest but when i was told the passenger style and color pattern was a rare breed i figured i would try to restore the jeep to its true form
The seat in question looks to be a "high back" style thats black leather (pleather?) with orange welting ...
I have original 1985 Spring Special seats, black with orange piping, embossed CJ logo. Driver's seat bottom has some tears, but passenger and rear seat in very good condition. I'm not at home now, but can send you some pictures next week if you're interested. I'm near Richmond Virginia.
