Wheel Backspacing

Hey guys,

I have a 81 Renegade with 35x12.5" tires. They rub at full turn. I am looking to order new wheels. How much backspacing is needed to "pull" the tires out far enough? Also, what type of wheel do you guys suggest? 15x8? 15x10? Brand?

how much do they rub, and what is your current rim size/ backspacing?

4" is fairly standard on a 15x8, and it shouldn't take too much to keep it from hitting, (usually a half inch or so)

finally, I prefer an 8" rim with a 12.5 tire

Not too bad at full turn, but enough. I would also like to have them pulled out a little beyond the fenders. The rims that are on there now are American Racing 15x8. I am not sure the backspacing because I was not the original buyer of the wheel/tires. They are the "5 star" rim, I am not sure what they actual name is.
