what part is this???????

So I am starting to put together all the vac lines for my 360 swap into my cj 5 and I have a bunch of parts I got off a waggy for my smog equipment which I need in place to pass the ca smog check. I am not sure what this part is called and where it goes. Can you guys help me out here?

That looks like a PCV line solenoid. As far as I know they never worked right and were a recalled part that didn't get replaced, it got tossed.

I can't help ID that part. But I can help with CA smog. I have the 360 in my CJ5. I have it set up with all emissions equipment as 79 304. Couldn't find all the parts for 360 emissions. Took it to the referee and it passed. Get yourself a FSM for your year jeep. It will help a lot with ID of all the parts.

The reff I have talked to said o have to do all smog equipment as an 84 waggy since that was the year my engine casting was used till. So all smog must be as it was on a 84 waggy

That's strange. My engine casting never came up. Maybe it's older than 79. It was a rebuilt engine that I got in another jeep so I don't know the details. It originally had no smog equipment on it at all so I pieced it all together myself.

They used the same casting numbers for many years. I was told the emissions was based on the actual year of the motor and not the "last year" that number was used.

Well that is true but I got the engine out of a 79 and the jeep is an 83. And the engine has to be newer than the jeep so I must do 84 waggy smog

I brought the jeep into CA from another state with the 360 already in it so maybe that had something to do with it. I was nervous about the test. I didn't know if the engine change was possible. But I put all the smog stuff on, had the carb rebuilt, crossed my fingers and passed. Good luck with your test.
