what is a jumper wire to use to check the check engine light codes.

my 1996 jeep cherokee check engine light came on and it started to act up and the engine started cutting out like its not getting fed gass..
in my wireing manual it tells me too get the flashing thing to work i have to "connect the trouble code test terminals 6 and 7 with a jumper wire" sept i dont know what a jumper wire is. can someone help me plz

This is the wrong forum. Stock CJ's do not have "check engine" lights.

A jumper wire is just a wire that connects terminal 6 and 7. Grab some scrap wire, but you Are in the wrong Forum.

I would just go to AUTOZONE and borrow a code reader. Plug it into the OBDII terminal to run a dignostic. You might be able to reset the light but it'll turn on again if you don't fix the problem.
