what goes here?

There a hole with what looks like three screw holes above the jeep logo on the drivers side. Any clue what this could be? Thanks for all the help in advance.

Looks like somebody made a hole for an antenna.

76 CJ7 6 cyl/t18/Dana 20
05 TJ HP30/8.8 with ARB's Rubicrawler Flatbelly Midarms/3" lift and 35s

Looks like a CB antenna was mounted there at one point. Like this:

I have one on both sides and they look factory to me but then again, these guys probably know more than me. Where did the original antenna go?

I know later CJ7s had it above the "Joop" on the passenger side.

Went ahead and covered up that big hole and ordered and installed a new antenna in the factory position
