What does it vent?

Middle of the fire wall I believe on all CJ's is a vent with a One way on it. What does it vent? I have the vent tube holder still but nothing is currently there.

Transfer case vent. It is not a one way valve actually. It is a simple vent with a cap to prevent water splash and dirt getting into it.
On mine i modded it to vent both the transfer case and the transmission case.
